Gastroenterology is the medical specialty that deals with diseases of the digestive system; esophagus, stomach, pancreas, liver, small intestine, large intestine, colon, and rectum .
When should I visit it?
Upset stomach, acute pain or reflux can be symptoms of gastritis or irritable bowel . In these cases it is best to consult to receive an assessment and appropriate treatment.
There are also other symptoms of serious diseases such as: blood in the stools or when they are dark, this can be caused by intestinal bleeding and must be treated as soon as possible.
